Corsets Off. Camille Claudel and Polish Women Sculptors of the 19th Century

Corsets Off. Camille Claudel and Polish Women Sculptors of the 19th Centuryconceived and edited by Ewa Ziembińska, translated by Marcin Wawrzyńczak and Olga Mysłowska, designed by Kamila Schinwelska and Marcin Gwiazdowski, 240 pages, illustrated (Warsaw: The National Museum in Warsaw, 2023)

The catalogue of the exhibition Corsets Off. Camille Claudel and Polish Women Sculptors of the 19th Century brings closer the profiles of Polish women artists whose achievements have so far not received proper research attention, and have also remained unknown to the wider public. The oeuvre of Camille Claudel serves as a point of reference in the narrative, which aims to save from oblivion the work of women who were courageous and determined enough in their fight for the right to practise sculpture professionally. The result of many years of scholarly research, the catalogue is a compendium of knowledge on Polish female sculptors of the 19th century, presented in an artistic form.
