This publication traces the history of the Polish poster from the end of the 19th century through the second decade of the 21st century. The authors – curators from the Poster Museum in Wilanów – present the evolution of the medium and its diverse applications. From late 19th-century bills and announcements, through advertising and political posters from the 1920s interwar period, to the crowning achievements of the world-renowned Polish School of Posters from the 1950s and 1960s. It also includes the history of posters designed and printed during the Nazi occupation and the Warsaw Uprising, as well as the Socialist Realist era. You’ll also find key post-1989 phenomena and artists, alongside the challenges posed by the developing free market.
The publication is available in two different graphic versions – you may choose one of two cover designs.
