14th Photography Room Presentation / Warsaw: Forgotten Views

26th November 2025 – 28th February 2026
Curator: Danuta Jackiewicz

For the first time, Warsaw will be the subject of a Photography Room presentation. Together we will explore the city’s expansion in the 1840s and 1850s, as well as its metamorphosis as a result of new investments in the 1880s. We uncover the 19th-century history of Warsaw through the layout of the streets and squares and the views of individual buildings taken from different perspectives. Look closer and catch glimpses of everyday life in the city: Varsovians milling about, their appearance and customs, the development of means of transport, and even the types of stones that pave the streets. Discover landscapes from 1858–1914 taken by the owners of Warsaw’s most renowned photography studios: Karol Beyer, Maksymilian Fajans, Konrad Brandel, Maurycy Pusch and Leonard Kowalski.
