Self-Portraits
Join a tour of the temporary exhibition SELF-PORTRAITS with a guide from the Education Department.
The “Self-Portraits” exhibition presents an assortment of contemporary examples of this class of artwork, going far beyond the standard depiction of an artist’s likeness that classic art history has accustomed us to. Among the works spanning a range of disciplines (paintings, sculpture, photography, sound installation, and more) we find pieces that are highly personal as well as ones that contribute to a broader analysis of the artist’s place in society.

Roads to Jerusalem
Join a tour of the temporary exhibition Roads to Jerusalem with a guide from the Education Department.
The exhibition attempts to present the phenomenon of Jerusalem as a city of three cultures: Jewish, Christian, and Muslim. It shows Jerusalem not only as existing in a specific geographic, historical and cultural reality, but also as an imagined space: a metaphysical destination for pilgrims, a fantasy for travelers, and the eschatological end of the road in the afterlife for generations of the faithful. The city is full of contradiction and paradox. Shared and divided, its status has been tied to the spirituality and piety of the followers of various faiths and to tumultuous political conflict, not infrequently provoked by religious motives.
