Permanent galleries
There are six permanent galleries in the Museum. New Gallery of Ancient Art houses 1,800 historical artefacts of the ancient civilizations of Egypt, the Middle East, Greece and Rome. The unique Faras Gallery presents Medieval Nubian paintings from the Nile River Valley south of the First Cataract. The Gallery of Medieval Art is the richest and most diverse of its kind in Poland, consists mainly of works from the Late Middle Ages. Gallery of Old Masters brings together diverse art forms — painting, sculpture, drawing, graphic arts and craft objects: porcelain, glass and rock crystal ware and goldsmith items. The most popular among Museum’s visitors is Gallery of 19th Century Art with the most famous Polish painters. Polish applied arts are on permanent display in the Gallery of Polish Design, showcasing the most important pieces from the early 20th century up to the present day. Every year in the Museum there are also few temporary exhibitions of Polish, European and world art.
