In 1998, the Leopold Kronenberg Bank Foundation first deposited and then bequeathed for good a 19th century collection of mainly Polish gold objects. This collection together with some objects from the National Museum in Warsaw’s previous holdings now make up a permanent exposition which complements the Gallery of Polish Decorative Art.
Apart from the works of the best Warsaw goldsmiths (Jan Maciej Schwartz, Karol Filip Malcz, Ludwik I Nast, Teodor Werner), there are also examples of silver from other towns and cities of the old Polish Commonwealth: Cracow, Kielce, Lublin, Vilnius, Grodno, Kalisz, and some smaller provincial centres such as Łomża, Chęciny and Piotrków.
